God’s Masterpiece

“For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.”

‭‭Ephesians‬ ‭2:10‬ ‭ESV‬‬

This verse means God made us with intentionality. There is a purpose for why we exist. There is a “master plan” that is being carried out and we are part of it. We are not a random conglomerate of atoms and cells but a precisely made human being that brings delight to God. Our lives matter and we all have a part to play.

The idea of workmanship has its origins in literature. This word comes from the word we get “poem”. In other words, it’s like God saying we are His poem. God is writing a poem or song with our lives. Do all poems rhyme? Of course not. Yet this is when we feel like there is not rhyme or reason to our lives. However, God using these times to write something beautiful, we just don’t know it yet.

God is doing something wonderful in and through our lives. We must be patient and attentive although the process at times is long. He’s searching for the right words, the right notes, the right tools, to bring our lives together in harmony.

Do you see God writing a “poem” with your life?

What would your poem be called?

Do you see God’s hand at work?

Do you feel like a masterpiece? Why or why not?
