The spiritual battle is a real one but we must do as this verse says. We must “put on” the armor. Just because the armor is available to us doesn’t mean we are using it well or in the right way. The armor may belong to me but hanging in my closet. What good does that do me? The armor of God is meant for protection and fighting off the evil one when he comes in attack mode. This is no time to be lazy, thinking the armor will magically appear on me. I must engage and get dressed for battle myself.

The other thought concerning the armor here is that I must put it all on, fully. I cannot afford to leave one item behind, nor figure to survive an attack without being fully armored; the enemy knows exactly where we aren’t prepared. Putting on the full armor of God should not require any thought of disregard. God has given us lol we need to withstand the spiritual onslaught but we must put it all fully on!
