“The good person out of the good treasure of his heart produces good, and the evil person out of his evil treasure produces evil, for out of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaks.”
Luke 6:45 ESV
Abundance is stored in our hearts, not our heads. What we love most finds residence deep down in our inner most being. This is why the prayer made by David in Psam 51:6 is so important:
“Behold, you delight in truth in the inward being, and you teach me wisdom in the secret heart.” The truth of who and what we are comes from our hearts not our heads. We don’t always respond with careful thought and consideration. It’s what spontaneously comes out of our mouths that reveals the abundance of our hearts. The habit or the “natural” unconscious deeds and words reveal what is of abundance within.
It’s not a problem to talk about what we love. Find any sports fanatic and they can rattle off any statistic of their favorite team/player. That’s why they are considered a fanatic. Is it any wonder that many “Christians” aren’t considered fanatics; those who can barely recite a Bible verse from memory any longer? Those who barely open a Bible or attend church regularly could not be considered loyal fans of Jesus much less fanatics!
We find no issue of finding the time for the things we love. We have an abundance of whatever we cherish. Others around us know who or what we love; it naturally flows from the abundance in our hearts. The truth be told is that the truth will be told. Our words and actions abundantly display what we love.
What is flowing from the abundance of your heart?
What do you talk about/ think about the most?
Would you consider yourself a fan or fanatic about Jesus? Would anyone else?
