“Catch the foxes for us, The little foxes that are ruining the vineyards, While our vineyards are in blossom.” Song of Songs 2:15
A Fox only comes prowling when there is ripe fruit to steal. These foxes ruin the vineyard. We know that the scripture refers to vineyard images often. In John 15, we are told Jesus is the vine and we are the branches. What are those little foxes in our lives?
The little foxes represent all the small details, the things that we don’t often consider or pay attention to with care. The Fox is crafty and agile. He sneaks in when we are not aware. Often we may miss the fox because we are looking for a lion. Knowing that the devil often comes as a lion we don’t expect him to come as a fox. But if he can steal your fruit as a fox, he will certainly do it! His goal is not to impress you with his appearance but to simply keep you from being fruitful.

We’ve all heard it before that the enemy of the best is settling for good enough. How has this little fox of “good enough” been present in your life?
