Uncommon Sense

What the Lord is calling us to may not always make sense, especially to those in the world. Jesus isn’t asking us to use common sense or to do what makes sense… He’s calling us to do what makes obedience (1 Samuel 15:22). Following Jesus in obedience is the only thing that makes sense to the Christ Follower with a call on their life. Following to the end will look like uncommon sense to many.

The call of God isn’t always going to be completely understood but it can be completely obeyed one step-at-a-time-all-the-way. The problem with many Christ Followers is that they tend to want to have some shortcuts to obedience all the while failing to see the call is to lifelong obedience. This is because obedience is not always easy. The road to uncommon sense is long, hard, and arduous in some seasons which makes this uninviting to those of weak dispositions.

For the ones who are called and ready to step into the life God is offering, uncommon sense will be required. However, this uncanny faith will be supported by Holy Spirit Himself (1 Thessalonians 5:24), who will not only sustain us in every trial but ensure our safe arrival to the destiny in which God has prepared (Ephesians 2:10). It is only through faith that we can please God (Hebrews 11:6) and it is only through uncommon sense that anyone would follow Him. But to everyone who does, the life abundant and free awaits (John 10:10). Be uncommon today and obey all the way. Our obedience might be considered uncommon sense but that is really what displays our faith (James 2:14-26).
