Making Intercession

“Therefore He is also able to save to the uttermost those who come to God through Him, since He always lives to make intercession for them.” Hebrews 7:25

Looking at this verse there are three things that stand out immediately.

1) Jesus can save to the uttermost. Many followers of Jesus believe He can save but do we believe He can save to the “uttermost”? What does that mean exactly? Have we forgotten how ugly and depraved we were before Jesus saved us? Why is it that we forget that Jesus didn’t die for righteous people but for the ungodly? Maybe there is someone that you have been praying for and they seem so far from God so let me encourage you to not give up; He can save to the uttermost! Keep praying and making intercession!

2) Jesus is alive and always will be. Because we are praying to Jesus, who is alive, we can rest assured that our prayers are being heard and answered! A dead god can do nothing but oh, what an alive God can do! We cannot forget all that Jesus has overcome for us and that He wants to overcome in us and through us!! His is the victory and through intercessory prayer, we join in His victory!

3) Jesus is making intercession for us and others. We may think that no one is standing up for us but this would inaccurate. Jesus is standing at the right hand of the Father and He is there offering prayers for us and others. The question we must ask ourselves is: “are we standing in the gap, making intercession for others with Christ”?
