God’s Calling

“Don’t you realize that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, who lives in you and was given to you by God? You do not belong to yourself,

1 Corinthians 6:19

What the Lord wants is full obedience not my opinion. The Lord doesn’t come to me and ask what I think is best for the situation. How could I possibly know? It is essential that I lay aside my own purposes and causes if I am to fulfill the call of God. He has a calling and I cannot allow any self-preservation to enter in. He has a mission and has called His missionary. Now the missionary has but one thing to do: obey.

Every calling is different, tailored to the talents and giftedness of the person God has called. If you have been called to a task by God, rest assured He will equip you for it. God’s calling will always be to something greater than yourself but not greater than His ability and power working through you. When God’s calling comes it is not to make us great. This is the fallacy of some leaders. God’s calling on our lives is to make God’s name great. God’s calling in our lives will always lead to humility because it will ultimately require less of me and more of Him (John 3:30).

Have you experienced God’s calling on your life?

Do you have a sense of purpose or destiny?

What is keeping you from accomplishing God’s calling?

How have you been avoiding God’s calling?

Will you obey today?
