The Star Is Born

“Now after Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea in the days of Herod the king, behold, wise men from the east came to Jerusalem, saying, “Where is he who has been born king of the Jews? For we saw his star when it rose and have come to worship him.””

‭‭Matthew‬ ‭2:1-2‬ ‭ESV‬‬

Many people worship different items. Depending on which religion one is anything from animals, to relatives, to inanimate objects may be the object of adoration. In this case from the passage above, so called wise men also known as astrologers came looking for Jesus because of His star.

An astrologer usually uses stars to direct their lives and make decisions. Isn’t it awesome to see how God has taken a star and used it to reach into the lives of these men in order to direct them to the One worthy of worship? God created stars but not for worship. He also used a star to direct these men to the only one worthy of their worship.

God desires for all people to know Him through Jesus, not only the Jews. These wise men are Gentiles, people from other nations and races. God uses a star to bring them to worship the True King, The True Wise One.

How has God used something in your life to point you to Himself?

What did you worship before Jesus?

How has Jesus gotten all your love and affection since your rebirth?

How does knowing Christ wants all nations to know Him affect you? What can you do about it?
