God gave me His Word so that I can live right and in worship properly in this world. By taking time to study and memorize it, I am demonstrating gratitude for His communication to me.
Passage:
“How can a young man cleanse his way? By taking heed according to Your word. With my whole heart I have sought You; Oh, let me not wander from Your commandments! Your word I have hidden in my heart, That I might not sin against You.”

Paraphrase:
How is a person supposed to steer clear of all the dangers on Life’s Highway? By paying close attention to the signs posted by God in His Word. With my best attentiveness and desire have I pursued knowing and understanding the way in which to drive according to God’s roadmap. God, don’t let me hit the curb! I have stored up your directions in my heart’s GPS so as to obey all your laws and enjoy all the sights along the way.
Premise:
God has given us His Word that we may not only live better lives and please Him but moreover that we may know Him. God isn’t interested in us just knowing what He said but Who He is. The Bible gives us insight to Who God really is. Just as each of us have our own personality and ways of doing things, so does God. God has given us His Word so that we might live in a way that honors Him and gives us the very best life possible.
God’s Word shouldn’t be taken lightly, nor ignored. The more we know His Word, the better we will know God.
Principle:
God has given clear directions on how He wants me to live in this world.
God’s Word is a type of roadmap to help me navigate my way toward Him and a holy life.
Memorizing God’s Word will help keep me from winning against God.
Ponder:
How thankful am I for God’s Word?
Do I look at the Bible as God’s direct communication with me?
How has God’s Word helped me live better and pleasing to God?
Practice:
Spend time daily in God’s Word. Don’t just read it but set aside time to study and memorize it.
Pray God’s Word. Use Bible passages to make requests to God. If it’s written in Hos Word, then you know it’s His will. So pray God’s will for your life.
Prayer:
Dear Lord, thank you for your Word. You have given it to me so I won’t sin against you. I ask for a better understanding and comprehension of your Word. Create an insatiable desire in me for you and your Word that I may be pleasing to you and live the life you have called me to. Remind me of the principles and promises of your word as I face various decisions each day.
