Doors and Decisions

Passage:

“Then Jesus said to them again, “Most assuredly, I say to you, I am the door of the sheep. All who ever came before Me are thieves and robbers, but the sheep did not hear them. I am the door. If anyone enters by Me, he will be saved, and will go in and out and find pasture. The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.”

‭‭John‬ ‭10:7-10‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

Paraphrase:

Jesus spoke to everyone again, “ I’m telling you the truth when I say that I am the only door for the true sheep of God to enter through. Others who have imitated me or come before me were simply out for their own selves, like robbers and thieves. The true sheep pay them no attention. I am the door. If someone comes through me to God not only will they be saved but they will find a place of fulfillment and purpose. The theif only wants to harm and hurt…ultimately he has no concern for your life or soul. However I have come not to take away from you but to give you everything your heart and soul desires for ultimately your joy and satisfaction will come with a right relationship with God through me.”

Principle:

Jesus offers life and purpose.

Other doors are available but only Going through Christ will lead us to eternal life.

Promise:

Anyone who enters through Christ can have eternal life.

Those who follow Jesus have a new purpose and meaning in life.

Ponder:

What other doors have you tried to walk through?

What thieves have stolen your joy or parts of your life?

Have you trusted Christ as your passageway to God and eternal life?

How has your relationship with Christ changed your life, meaning and purpose?

Every door doesn’t lead to the same destination. Even though many doors may look alike it doesn’t mean they all have the same thing on the other side.

Every house has only one front door. Jesus is The Front Door that leads to Heaven.

Practice:

Listen for the voice of Jesus as I walk through different decisions (doors).

Beware of thieves that are seeking to steal my joy and life.

Remember that meaning and purpose are only found in Christ, nowhere else.

Prayer:

Jesus thank you for being the Door that leads to salvation. Thank you that you have come to show me the way and to be the way. Help me to not listen to the thieves that are trying to steal my joy, meaning and purpose in life.
