Hurricane Help

As everyone knows now there has been massive devastation throughout the southeast from Hurricane Helene. Places like Teen Valley Ranch, Spruce Pine, Boone and the surrounding areas have been forever changed by this powerful storm. Not only has Western NC been affected but areas in my state of GA and even my neighbor across the street from me have suffered property loss and some have lost loved ones. In times like these it can be very difficult to know where to start or how to assist. Even now with time and days passed, roads are still impassable and many are without power, cell service, food and water yet…

The resilience of people is shining through. The commitment of communities is bolstering. The love of God is being poured out in so many extraordinary ways. It’s during times like these when the waters rise, so does the resolve to overcome. It’s in times like these when the roads and mountains give way that we see God remaining as strong on our behalf as ever. Even as the landscape has changed along with the stories of our lives, we still see evidence of God’s goodness through the lives of one another.

There are ways we can serve and assist even if we cannot be in those spaces personally. Here are a couple of ways you can assist:

Teen Valley Ranch: http://tvr.org/give

Deer Creek Retreat Link for Avery County (Put “Flood” in the memo): https://tithe.ly/give_new/www/#/tithely/give-one-time/5608161

New Vision Church has been gathering supplies to take to Augusta, GA. If you’d like to contribute to that physically, you can drop off at 479 Inman Rd. M-T, Th or Fr. between 11am-4pm or Wednesday between 5pm-6pm at 193 Johnson Ave. Fayetteville, GA. You can contribute to http://www.vision2hear.com and 100% of the proceeds will go toward Hurricane relief also (Put “Hurricane Relief” in the memo).

If you can’t give, you can certainly pray for those in need and ask God to restore their power, reconnect them with loved ones and provide the assistance they need to rebuild their lives. Thank you for your willingness to do what you can during this very hard time for so many. May God bless you and all those affected from this storm.

“God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear though the earth gives way, though the mountains be moved into the heart of the sea, though its waters roar and foam, though the mountains tremble at its swelling. Selah”
