Keeping God’s Word

“My son, do not forget my teaching, but let your heart keep my commandments, for length of days and years of life and peace they will add to you.”

‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭3:1-2‬ ‭ESV‬‬

Many may think God is a killjoy or simply trying to prevent them from “fun”, when in reality God is desiring for them to have the best life possible. This verse clearly lays out 2 things that happens when we keep God’s Word.

1) Longer life. When we do the things God commands, we will naturally live longer. Following His commands keeps us out of trouble and harm’s way. When we obey Him we also know we have His protection. God sees things we do not see and through obedience what we get to see is a longer life. Not only is there longer life but a better quality to life. By obeying God we have a deeper, richer sense of life and all that truly matters in this life.

2) Lasting peace. Keeping God’s commands brings peace to our souls and minds. We have a sense of calm and rest that we do not have when living outside of God’s Will. There is confidence and security in keeping God’s Word.

When we honor God’s Word and follow after Him, we will see God’s hand of protection and peace in our lives. We will have a better life and enjoy our lives more. Therefore, continue to make God’s Word central to your life and all you do.

Do you think God wants the best for you or not?

Do you really trust God with your life?

Do you have a high quality of life now?

Are you keeping God’s Word?

Have you sought peace outside of God?
