“Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.”
Matthew 11:28 ESV

In honor of our Labor Day holiday, I thought this verse would be appropriate.
Jesus invites us to come to Him when we are weary and worn. When the burdens of life are too heavy to bear, we are told to come. It is a wonderful thing to know that Christ is waiting with outstretched arms to not only carry our burdens but to carry us! This verse isn’t just about losing our cares to Him but being cared for by Him.
It’s too easy to simply say “Jesus, clean up the mess I’ve made”. He will help with that; but the deeper more powerful statement is: “Jesus clean up the mess that is me”. Too many simply want to dump problems on to Jesus and rush back into a performance mode of living. We find rest, complete rest when we come to Him as we are and allow Him to carry us.
What burdens are you carrying that you need to give to Christ?
How are you being driven by performance instead of resting in Christ?
What part of you is a mess that you need for Christ to clean?
How have you picked up burdens you laid down before? Why have you done that?
